Cry Eden, cry

Rows of empty galleries greet Tendulkar on his 12000th Test run but still I S Bindra’s Mohali;

Mumbaikars may have sold their soul to T20 and switched allegiance to YV Patil but still Sharad Pawar’s Wankhede;

Counterfeit tickets, counterfeit crowd, counterfeit administrators and still Arun Jaitley’s Kotla;

Lalit Modi’s indifference to anything not T20 shared by the entire Jaipur but still Sawai Man Singh;

Nagpur maybe a lemon as a venue but still Shashank Manohar’s VCA Stadium in Jamtha.

Once again, arguably the most hopelessly emotional bunch of cricket followers found them caught in the crossfire between egoistic administrators and their murky game.

Cry Eden cry.

SP, no idea but this is just not done. Even a Test would attract at least 45k there.

although the chances of getting a ticket are miniscule, I'm delighted that international cricket is finally coming back to Mumbai.
co incidentally, the last test Mumbai hosted before the cancelled one against England last year was against the same opponents in March 2006.

The last ODI?
against Australia in October 2007

Crownish, let's play the crowd doesn't boo Tendulkar this time. And welcome to Doosra.

It hardly matters where the cricket is played these days. Ofcourse, it's sad for Calcutta to be missing out but then so did Mohali when Dalmiya was calling the shots and Bindra was not. So why complain now? When this set of clowns is replaced by another, Eden Gardens will get it's chance.

Anonymous, you made me research on Mohali and I could not find a year -- since the stadium came into being in 1993 -- in which it did not host at least one international match (Test/ODI). Eden hosted the last Test in Nov 2007 and last ODI in Feb 2007. And I have not missed a match in Mohali in last 3 years and I can tell you, it's damp squib, even when they threw the gates open for school kids.

NC, add some serial blasts in the mix and you have got the concoction right. I don't grudge Guwahati, poor people there, but they get the match simply because Assam Cricket Association had defected from Dalmiya to Pawar camp.
