4. Any WC with England in final is a nihilist anachronism. To be honest, it’s not cricket WC at all. At best, it’s a soccer WC and that too some four-decade old;
5. Any WC with an Australia-England final is actually an Ashes prelude;
6. Any WC where Lalit Modi doesn’t dole out the gongs is rebel;
7. Any WC where Yuvraj has to broker peace in a pub brawl is absurdist.

I do agree it seems strange with England in the finals and worse them playing against arch rivals, Australia....

Me not a great fan of the 'Ugly Aussie'. But the Cricket they have played is looks as if they are from another planet.
Even though your reasons are as hilarious as ever, these are the 'Two Best' teams in this competition and this could be the best final... If England don't choke. They have done it 'N' number of times including the Champions Trophy final vs West Indies a few years ago!
My money will be on an easy win for Australia :-)

Same to Same Som. It is mid-month for me too. So that is best time to do imaginary bet. You can bet any amount when the pocket is empty. As long as they don't accept credit card at betting places, we are safe :-)

Yup... England proved that where there is a will, there is Peitersen. He has looked like a sage and played like God all through this Cup and then, played a stupid shot; perhaps to allow his Worthy Captain to hit the First ever winning shot in a Final for an Englishman !!!
I can imagine the English over the Moon. This is good for the game in the UK where it had slipped to 10 or 11 in terms of public acceptance!
Govind, Collingwood's post-match presser left me dumb. He said this is AT PAR with Ashes. This Ashes-centric mindset has crippled England as an ODI/T20 outfit and they refuse to see beyond tradition and nostalgia. They can put Ashes -- contest between world number 3 & 5 Test teams -- above a WORLD CUP! ICC need to find a clause and strip them of it.
Som, Don't forget we have millions in this country who were satisfied when India slaughtered Pakistan in WC-07! They told "I am happy now. Even if India lose the world cup, I am not bothered".
They found my view "I don't mind if India lose to Pak and go on to win the WC" to be unpatriotic.
For a Pom, Ashes and any win against the descendants of those exiled criminals from down-under is sacred. As simple as that !
